Sophie Toft

Sophie Toft is an experienced professional dancer whose journey began at just five years old. Her passion and dedication have taken her from local studios to some of the UK’s biggest stages, building a strong and versatile career across television, live events, and theatre.

Sophie trained extensively with the Wilkes Academy Under 16s programme for six years before progressing to full-time vocational training, where she earned her Diploma in Performing Arts from Wilkes Academy in Swindon. This foundation launched her into a successful professional career within the commercial dance industry.

Her professional credits include high-profile television and commercial work, performing as a backing dancer for Little Mix on The X Factor, appearing on Soccer Aid (ITV), and featuring in the Adidas World Cup campaign. Sophie has also performed at major live events such as The Clothes Show Live at the NEC, The Skills Show, and Live at the Globe.

In theatre, Sophie has been part of professional ensembles for productions including Snow White and Cinderella with Extravaganza Productions, alongside a decade of performances at the Regent Theatre—further strengthening her stage presence and performance versatility.

At Defy Gravity, Sophie brings her industry experience directly into the studio, delivering high-energy, engaging classes that reflect real commercial dance standards. Her teaching style combines technical training with confidence-building and performance quality, inspiring students to push their limits, build stage presence, and pursue their goals with ambition.
