Nicole Whitby is a cornerstone of Defy Gravity, bringing over 15 years of dedication, experience, and mentorship to the studio. As a long-standing member of the teaching team, she has played a pivotal role in shaping generations of dancers, guiding them from their first steps through to advanced and vocational levels.
Nicole’s own training is rooted in exceptional standards. She began her vocational journey at Elmhurst Ballet School, one of the UK’s leading dance institutions, before continuing her professional development at Preston College, where she achieved her teaching qualifications.
Fully qualified in ISTD Ballet, Tap, Modern, and National, Nicole delivers a comprehensive and technically rigorous approach across multiple disciplines. Her teaching is centred around building strong, reliable foundations—ensuring every student develops the technique, discipline, and confidence required to progress.
With over a decade and a half at Defy Gravity, Nicole has a deep understanding of the studio’s ethos and each dancer’s individual journey. Her ability to nurture talent while maintaining high standards makes her an invaluable mentor and a trusted figure for both students and parents.
